Journey to Dinotopia is a half-hour program designed to generate awareness and high interest among younger viewers in ABC's six-hour mega-series event, "Dinotopia," which premiered Sunday, May 12, 2002. Hosting the program directly from Dinotopia and using footage from the mega-series, David Scott (Wentworth Miller) leads viewers through the rich visual detail, history, culture, and everyday happenings of Dinotopia. Dinotopia is treated as an absolutely real place. Every nuance of Dinotopian society feels so completely plausible, viewers will beg their parents to book flights to Dinotopia as soon as they are done watching the special. Zippo, noted saurian scholar and librarian, also periodically joins the program as the host of 15 to 30-second "Dino-Newsbreaks." During these sudden breaks in the show, Zippo brings us stories from all parts of Dinotopia. "Journey to Dinotopia" is fast-paced, real, and changes gears often enough to keep a young audience hooked and wanting more of this world where dinosaurs and humans live, work and play together....the world of Dinotopia.
