The Flintstone Comedy Show (not to be confused with the shortened, retitled 1973 version of CBS' The Flintstone Comedy Show) was a 90-minute Saturday morning animated series revival of The Flintstones produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions from November 22, 1980 to September 11, 1982 on NBC. It contained six segments:
The series featured new characters (The Frankenstones, the Shmoo, Captain Caveman, Cavemouse) as well as older characters (Penny, Wiggy, Moonrock and Schleprock from The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show). A series of gags, educational spots, games, how-to-draw and a dance-of-the-week were featured in-between the six segments every week.
In 1982, reruns of the show were repackaged for two seasons under the title The Flintstone Funnies.
Fred and Barney have new positions as police officers, Wilma and Betty have jobs as newspaper reporters at The Bedrock Gazette with Captain Caveman. Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm are teenagers and they solve mysteries with Dino in a similar fashion to Scooby-Doo. The Flinstones have new neighbors named then Frankenstones, a family reminiscent of the Munsters. Written by Benjamin Wirtz
