The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie is the second feature length film in the VeggieTales series. It was released on January 11, 2008. The film was rated G by the MPAA.
Big Idea, Inc, the creator of the VeggieTales series, produced the film. Starz Media (formerly DKP Productions and IDT Entertainment), the animation house behind all VeggieTales productions since 2002, performed the computer animation. The was written by Phil Vischer, and Mike Nawrocki directed the film. Vischer and Nawrocki were the co-creators of the VeggieTales series. Vischer is the executive producer under his current company Jellyfish Labs, and Big Idea's David Pitts served as producer. The film features an original soundtrack by Big Idea's Kurt Heinecke, and is distributed by Universal Pictures. It was the first completely CGI film Universal Pictures has ever released to theaters.
Big Idea estimated that it took $15 million USD to bring Pirates to the screen. The trailer of the film was released with the 2007 film, Evan Almighty, another film about biblical stories which also was distributed by Universal

Three lazy misfits - very timid Elliot (Larry the Cucumber), lazy Sedgewick (Mr. Lunt) and no self-confident George (Pa Grape) - dream of the day of putting on a show about pirates. With their own problems of might not having this dream come true, they soon find themselves traveling back in time into the 17th century and begin a quest to rescue a royal family from an evil tyrant, and learn about being pirates.
